All of us reached puberty nearly at the age of 14. The most common indication of reaching one’s pubertal age is acne and acne scars. During adolescence, the sebaceous glands produce too much of a substance called sebum. This sebum acts as food for bacteria called Propionbacterium Acnes. This bacterium is responsible for increase in follicles during puberty. This bacterium attracts WBCs (White Blood Cells) to the follicle. The enzymes produced by these WBCs would then damage the wall of the follicle and allow the content of the follicle to enter the dermis. This entire process is responsible for causing acnes, papules, pustules and nodules.
Treatment for Acne and acne scars :
When the acne really starts bothering you or it has the potential to develop into scar, it is high time to start for the acne treatments. A Dermatologist would suggest you some topical antibiotics and antibacterial in the form of some cream or moisturizer. He might also prescribe some oral antibiotics seeing the condition. Cortisone injections are also used by the doctors to flatten out large pimples and cysts.
Apart form the medication, following a healthy silk regimen would also help you get rid of these acnes and scars. Cleansing twice a day with 5% benzoyl peroxide wash or 2% Salicylic acid would help you out. Using an oil free moisturizer or sunscreen or make up would prove beneficial. During the night you could also apply some night cream or spot cream for best results.
