We all know that a healthy heart beats 72 times per minute. It could however range from 50 to 100 heartbeats per minute as well. But whenever one experiences irregular heart beat, he or she might be suffering from Arrhythmia. The heart beat could be too fast or too slow. The condition where one experiences too fast heartbeat is called tachycardia and for too slow heartbeat, the term bradycardia is used. There are some other types too as premature atrial or ventricular contractions. Atrial flutter and atrial fibrillation are some other very common irregular heart beat or heart rhythm.

Symptoms for Arrhythmia :

The symptoms of arrhythmia or irregular heartbeat vary from patient to patient. Some patients might not come across any symptom which only gets detected by a doctor during a routine health check up. Even if one sees some symptoms, it is not necessary that it is something very serious. Yet, some might be life threatening too. Tachycardia symptoms include sudden weakness, fainting or about to faint, dizziness, chest fluttering. The patients suffering from bradycardia would experience problem in concentration, fatigue, palpitations, chest pain.

Causes for Arrhythmia :

There could be various other causes as to why one could suffer from irregular heart beat problem. Coronary heart disease, injury from a heart attack or when the person is recovering from a recent heart surgery. Our body follows a precise pattern. Same goes with the heart even. There are electrical impulses which are responsible for the heart to contract. Whenever there is any interruption in their normal pathway, a person might suffer from cardiovascular disease. There are some other reasons as well like alcohol abuse, mental stress, excessive coffee consumption, drug abuse. Even one could contract this cardiovascular disease as a result of dietary supplements, medications.

Treatment for Arrhythmia :

One could diagnose Arrhythmia early through Electrocardiogram, Echocardiogram, holter monitor, stress tests, and Cardiac catheterization. Once diagnosed, the cardiologist would examine the type and the seriousness of the arrhythmia. There might not be any need for medication for such a cardiovascular disease. Only making slight changes in the lifestyle and the diet would work for the patient. But not all are so lucky. They might need to undergo some surgery and medication to be cured of Arrhythmia.
