Any abnormal cell growth in human body could cause cancer. These abnormal cells are called malignant cells or cancer cells. Human body has got a cell division in which the cells develop and die. But sometimes the cell does not die and turn into cancer cells. They start proliferating and a mass of cancer cells develop. The mass of the cancer cells would detach themselves with the original mass of cells and travel to another body part, start another uncontrolled growth cycle. Such a cancer when it moves from its original position and travel to another body part it is called metastatic cancer.
There are more than 200 cancers prevalent.
Leukaemia : when abnormal blood cells are produced in the bone marrow and other blood forming tissue.
Myeloma : when cancer cells grow in the immune system.
Sarcoma : when cancer develops in bone, cartilage, muscle, connective, supportive issue.
Carcinoma : tissues which cover the internal organs when cancer cells begin to develop there, this condition is Carcinoma
Central Nervous System Cancers : when the cancer cells begin to grow in the tissues of the brain and spinal cord.
Causes of Cancer :
The risk of getting cancer depends on various factors such as age, sex, genetics and various other environmental factors. Signs and cancer symptoms depend on the location where the cancer has developed. For e.g. if you have contracted breast cancer, a lump in the breast would be the first sign. Many patients might not show any sign of cancer until it has reached to an advanced stage. Recurrent or constant fever, fatigue which is not relieved by rest, weight loss, abnormal bowel or bladder functions, unusual vaginal and bladder discharge are some of the cancer symptoms.
Treatment for Cancer :
Cancer treatment depends on the causes, the type and the stage of the cancer. Surgery is performed at all the patients suffering from the condition. Chemotherapy, radiation therapy and surgery are some of the available cancer treatment. The outcome for cancer treatment depends on the type and the stage of the cancer.
